About Therapy

As an Integrative counsellor, I use a mixture of approaches and relevant theories such as Person Centred, Trauma informed, Gestalt and CBT. This mixture of approaches will be different for each person and in my experience offers a more holistic approach. (See blog for further information). I work on building trust and safety within our therapeutic relationship before traumatic experiences are explored or worked through.

Together, in sessions we can explore situations you find difficult at your own pace, gaining a greater understanding for the reasons why and finding practical ways of coping differently so these feel less scary and overwhelming.

As part of our work, we can also use creative methods such as sand tray as a different way of helping you understand how you feel when words are too difficult to express.

Using sand tray is particularly useful when working with trauma and emotions which have been pushed down. This can help to gain a greater understanding of emotional release from past events and finding solutions of your own.

I have extensive expeience of counselling adults and children to feel less overwhelmed, more accepting of themselves and looking to the future with increased confidence.
